Students’ art on display at Gnome House

An exhibition of student artwork is now open for public viewing.

All About Me

Artwork from the exhibition at Gnome House, All About Me

The display at Gnome House in Blackhorse Lane features a series of acrylics on canvas from Willowfield School’s art and design GCSE students. It is entitled ‘All About Me’ and explores identity, culture, hopes, dreams, personality, and change.

The final portrait paintings are the outcome of many months of exploration, experimentation and refinement to create a personal and independent response to the theme.

The exhibition has come about through a partnership between Willowfield School, Gnome House and Waltham Forest Arts in Education Network, and is intended to give students a sense of pride in displaying their work publicly.

At the launch event guests included students, their families, local councillors and those working in the arts sector.

Councillor Tim Bennett-Goodman said: “It is a great exhibition, wonderful work and good to see it in this space.”

Professional artist Kirsten Schmidt added: “Great work – very varied and personal. I like especially Ayman Borg’s brave self portrayal and the mix of collage and painting in some.”

Visitors are welcome to drop in to see the exhibition, which runs until the end of November 2015.
