Sixth form colleges across the borough hailed the hard work of their students at A Level results day yesterday (13th August)
A Level, T Level and BTEC students across Waltham Forest yesterday (13th August) received their results, with sixth form colleges hailing the hard work of their students.
Highams Park School’s principal Nigel Armsby said he was “absolutely delighted and incredibly proud of his Year 13 students”.
The school achieved 226 grades scored between A and B, with highlights including Joshua, who with 2 As in Biology and Maths and an A in Chemistry will go onto read Medicine at Queen Mary University, and Jasmin who with A’s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths will be studying Pharmacology at City St George’s.
Over at Holy Family Catholic School & Sixth Form, vocational students achieved exceptionally strong results, with 96% achieving grades from Distinction* to Merit. Particularly strong performances were seen in Health & Social Care and Media, the school said.
Among the standout A Level performances at Holy Family was student Nicholas who achieved an A* A* A A and will be studying Theoretical Physics at UCL, while Aaliyah secured A A A C and will be studying Law at Queen Mary University of London.
Headteacher Carolyn Laws said: “These results are a wonderful reflection of the ambition, resilience and commitment our students have shown throughout their time at Holy Family.
“We are delighted to celebrate everything they have achieved academically, but we are equally proud of the compassionate and confident young people they have become. They have truly lived out our ASPIRE values, and I would like to thank our dedicated staff and families for the encouragement and support they have provided throughout their journey.”
It was another successful year for Walthamstow Academy with 88% of A Level entries were graded as A* to C, with just under a third achieving the top A* and A grades.
Over half of its Year 13 leavers secured places at Russell Group universities including Muby Ahmed and Nahla Salim who both achieved two A*s and one A securing places to read Medicine at University College London.
Collecting her results, Nahla said: “I couldn’t have done it without the support I got from my teachers. At times when I thought my hard work wasn’t enough, they made me understand that it is just as important to believe in yourself whilst working hard for your goals. Thank you for everything!”
Also achieving highly are Taef Qahdan who achieved A*A*A securing a place to read International Relations at King’s College London; Evie-Rose Grant who achieved A*AA and will study Psychology and Criminology at King’s College London; and Alfie Beazley who achieved D*DD in Triple BTEC Business securing a place at University College London to study Business and Health.
Another star achiever was Sharifa Mahamed who attained A*AA to read Economics, Finance and Data Science at Imperial College London.
Zayn Choudhury, who achieved three As securing a place to read Business and Health at University College London, said: “I am grateful to my wonderful teachers who constantly pushed me to better myself.”
Congratulating students on their results, Emma Skae, principal of Walthamstow Academy, said: “I am so proud of all our Year 13s today. They have worked so hard and thrown themselves into achieving these wonderful results. They have shown real dedication and commitment to their studies and it has really paid off. I know they will go on to achieve further successes and will continue to do themselves proud.
“I would also like to thank our amazing staff, who worked so hard alongside their students, encouraging and pushing them along the way. I know from what the students say about their teachers, that their support has been greatly appreciated.”
