Services at Walthamstow Central were disrupted this morning as emergency services rushed to treat a casualty on the Victoria Line track.
Multiple ambulances, a helicopter, and police vehicles rushed to the station at around 9.15am this morning (7th September).
The Echo understands the person is facing life-changing but not life-threatening injuries from the incident, which is not being treated by police as suspicious.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.15am today to reports of a person on the tracks at Walthamstow Central Station.
“We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a paramedic in a fast response car and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. We treated a person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority.”
A spokesman for British Transport Police told the Echo: “Officers were called to Walthamstow Central at 9.15am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to hospital with injuries that are thought to be life-changing but not life-threatening. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
The incident resulted in no service between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central this morning. Transport for London (TfL) has since reopened the track but there remain severe delays across the rest of the Victoria Line.
TfL has confirmed tickets are being accepted on buses, as well as the Weaver and Suffragette Lines, which are running as normal at Walthamstow Central and Walthamstow Queens Road.
