A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.02pm yesterday (8 July) to reports of a stabbing in Old Church Road, Chingford.

“We sent ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre by road as a priority.”

Chingford and Woodford Green MP Sir Iain Duncan Smith issued a statement following the incident, saying: “This incident will understandably be concerning, particularly for parents and families, given that it occurred on the high street during the afternoon shortly after the end of the school day.
