Four events have been organised across the borough this year for people to get help repairing and reusing household items

A series of reuse and repair fairs will be taking place over the next year, Waltham Forest Council has announced.
Five fairs will take place across the borough over the next twelve months, with live demos and workshops themed around the repair, reuse and repurposing of everyday household items.
They are designed to give residents the support and the tools, sometimes literally, to save money, reduce waste and lessen the need buy new things.
Deputy council leader Clyde Loakes said: “I’m delighted that we have secured the return of our fantastic reuse and repair fairs for another year. These events will tour the borough with activities and workshops designed to save residents cash and help them get the most out of pre-loved household items.
“Hundreds of people and dozens of local organisations worked with us over the course of last year’s reuse and repair fair programme and achieved great success. Let’s work together collectively as a community again to accomplish even more. I encourage everyone to check the schedule of events and come along!”
First up is the spring fair taking place in Langthorne Park on Saturday, 10th May, where an array of repair and sustainability specialists will be on hand with workshops and demos to repair and repurpose household items for indoors and out.
There will also be a ‘give and take’ where visitors can pick up pre-loved toys, clothes and household items, while Forest Fixers will be diagnosing and, where possible, repairing portable home electricals. Cycle maintenance aficionados Dr Bike will also be on hand to do running repairs, diagnose issues and recommend next steps and Play It Again Toys will be available to repair and remodel damaged toys.
The second event will be at Lea Bridge Library on Sunday, 6th July, with further fairs planned for September and November.
