Waltham Forest Council is inviting residents to an online live broadcast of its Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony at 7pm on Monday 3rd February.

The council has worked with the Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) on this year’s ceremony, which is in memory of the millions who were murdered during the Holocaust, along with those impacted by more recent genocides in Rwanda, Darfur, Bosnia, and in Cambodia.

The ceremony will include a presentation from Joan Salter MBE, a child survivor of the Holocaust who will share her personal experience.

Ceremony host Alex Maws, from the Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) will discuss the importance of the memorial day while Amanta Berberi, a local young person and regional ambassador for the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET) will share reflections on her visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Council leader Grace Williams will close the ceremony with a speech. There will also be readings from other community members and music from Cantor David Rome and pianist David Silkoff.

You can watch the livestream from 7pm on Monday 3rd February here
