Week-long sustainability festival set for Chingford Mount

From free bike and gadget repair workshops, to cabaret and a DJ set, Take the Jump promises a fun time for all over the school holidays

A week-long educational festival at Chingford Mount is promising a “party with a difference” as it seeks teach people lead to a more sustainable way of living that protects the planet.

Called Take the Jump, the festival will run at 228 Chingford Mount from 12pm – 6pm every day from Monday 8th April until Saturday 13th April.

The festival will include workshops, training, and one-to-one chats, on what ways to make small changes and live more sustainably.

Each day Waltham Forest locals will ‘take over’ 228 Chingford Mount to host workshops, pop ups, creative & community based pop ups and projects.

On Monday (8th April), South Chingford Repair Club will be running a repair workshop, while on Tuesday (9th April) there will be an advice session aimed at anyone interested in starting a community-bettering grassroots project.

On Wednesday (10th April), Heales Cycles are offering free bicycle maintenance and repair classes, and on Thursday (11th April) representatives from a 100% flight-free travel platform called Byway Travel will be around to chat about booking low-carbon holidays.

OrganicLea will run community gardening and growing workshops on Friday (12th April), before the festival rounds off with an all-day clothes swap party thanks to The Re-Loved Club on Saturday (12th April). A closing party featuring a DJ and cabaret will follow from 5-9pm that day.
