A former volunteer cop in Waltham Forest is accused of exploiting police privileges in order to blag free train journeys.
Former special constable Misbah Ishaq Mani, who resigned from her role last month, will face a misconduct hearing in June for “discreditable conduct”.
She is accused of travelling by train without paying for a ticket multiple times last year and flashing her warrant card when questioned by staff.
The Met Police website states: “On diverse days between 26th September and 14th October 2021, former SC Mani travelled on the South Western Railway without paying the fare.
“On each occasion… she produced her warrant card at the ticket barrier, intending the train officials to believe that she did not need to pay the fare.
“Former SC Mani had been issued with a Met Police Oyster card permitting her to travel without payment on all TFL-controlled services. It was not valid on any national rail service other than those operated by London Overground.”
Former SC Mani’s alleged dishonesty is considered “gross misconduct” and “so serious as to justify dismissal” from the force, had she not already resigned on 9th April.
Her hearing will begin on 24th June at 10am and will conclude that day.
