Where to find a ‘cool space’ in Waltham Forest

As the heatwave shows no sign of relenting, here is a list of ‘cool spaces’ in the borough where you can seek some respite

Walthamstow Library is a ‘cool space’

Cool spaces are indoor spaces for Londoners to shelter from the sun, cool down, rest and take respite on hot days.

They may help reduce health risks from hot weather. However, they are not designed to support vulnerable individuals on hot days, or a medical care substitute if someone is unwell from overheating.

All spaces appear on the Greater London Authority’s cool spaces map, which is live until Wednesday, 30th September.

These spaces are:

South Chingford Community Library (265 Chingford Mount Road, London, E4 8LP)
Leyton Library (High Road, London, E10 5QH)

Holy Trinity Church (4 Holloway Road, London, E11 4LD)
Leytonstone Library
(6 Church Lane, Bushwood, London, E11 1HG)
CRATE Walthamstow
(45 Selborne Walk, London, E17 7JR)
Walthamstow Library
(High Street, London, E17 7JN)
The Mill
(7-11 Coppermill Lane, London E17 7HA)
The Hornbeam Community Centre
(458 Hoe Street, London E17 9AH)
