First Stow-Ho House of the year pays tribute to Prince

Stow-Ho House is a regular club night that brings world class music talent to Walthamstow to raise money for charity

Stow-Ho House

Last month, the ninth edition of Stow-Ho House took over Exale Brewery in Walthamstow, with the secret headliner revealed as Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip for a special night celebrating the career of Prince.

Marking ten years since the legendary artist’s passing, on Thursday 21st May, the DJ Alexis was joined by fellow Prince devotees and selectors including Jackathon founder and former BBC Radio 1 DJ Heidi, the king of Purple Rave Tayo, Stow-Ho resident Trafford and co-organiser Samuel Potts, who played classic Prince anthems, deep cuts, rare edits and tracks inspired by his enduring legacy to a crowd of 220 people.

Stow-Ho House is a regular event that brings world class music talent to Walthamstow to raise money for charity. For the ninth edition, funds will be donated to brainstrust, a unique charity supporting brain tumour patients and caregivers with practical and emotional support including coaching, support groups and provision of advice on a wide range of brain tumour related issues.

Co-promoter Sam Potts said: “Juliet and I are delighted to invite some of our favourite DJs to Walthamstow for our very first party of 2026 – in an homage to the legend that is Prince, with our special guest Alexis Taylor, all in aid of brainstrust who do incredible work for those affected by brain tumours”

Rapidly establishing itself as a cornerstone of the E17 social calendar, Stow-Ho House has been described by locals as “harder to get tickets for than Glastonbury”.

The highly sought-after gatherings have previously featured surprise performances from Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada, Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess and Arctic Monkeys producer James Ford, alongside disco aficionado Greg Wilson, and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard. Originally a platform for local talent, the event series has since blossomed into a sensational triumph, held several times a year at The Walthamstow Trades Hall.

Stow-Ho House founders Sam Potts and Juliet Cromwell

Stow-Ho House is the visionary creation of Juliet Cromwell and Sam Potts, who have harnessed their extensive contacts and deep knowledge of the music industry to raise essential funds in an innovative way – through the power of the dance floor.

To date, Stow-Ho House has raised over £40,000 for charities that support local E17 initiatives or are close to Juliet and Sam’s hearts and to those of the DJs playing, including Eat or Heat, Waltham Forest Hub, Success Charity, War Child, Sound and Music, Anthony Nolan and Astron Health.
