MoreYoga, which opened in Hoe Street earlier this week, is offering sessions from as low as £1, writes Liedson Moreno Gomes

A new yoga studio next to Soho Theatre Walthamstow opened on Monday (18th May).
MoreYoga has described the opening as part of a wider effort to improve access to affordable wellbeing services in the borough.
The company said the Hoe Street studio offers discounted memberships and low-cost classes, including £1 sessions for people receiving universal credit.
The opening comes as Waltham Forest continues to see major regeneration and housing growth around Walthamstow town centre and Blackhorse Road, alongside increasing discussion about public health, social isolation, and access to community spaces.
According to figures cited by the company, 6.1% of residents in Waltham Forest report being in bad health, while 16.4% of households experience fuel poverty. It also said more than a third of economically inactive residents are unable to work due to long-term sickness.
MoreYoga argued that rising living costs and pressure on local services had increased demand for accessible community facilities and lower-cost wellness provision.
Rebecca Machin, chief marketing officer at MoreYoga, said: “Opening in Walthamstow is about more than bringing yoga to a new postcode. It’s about creating a space where people can connect, reset, and feel part of something.”
Machin also linked the project to the legacy of her grandparents, conservationist Malcolm MacEwen and town planner Ann MacEwen, who campaigned for community-led urban planning and public participation in architecture and development during the post-war period.
Ann was involved in the Livable City campaign in the 1970s, while Malcolm later became known for advocating greater public involvement in planning decisions. The Royal Institute of British Architects’ MacEwen Award was established in their name in 2016.
MoreYoga said the new studio would include introductory offers and classes aimed at beginners as well as existing practitioners.
The company described the space as intended to function as a “third place” for residents outside of home and work.
