Third man charged with murdering Suhayb in Leyton last month

A third man has been charged with murder following a Met Police investigation into the fatal stabbing of a man in Leyton.

Faruq Ismail, aged 25 and of Eclipse Road, Plaistow, was arrested yesterday (Monday 11th) and charged with murder. He will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 12th).

At around 12.40am on Thursday, 23rd April, police were called to Saint George’s Road following reports of an altercation between a group of people.

Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and a man was treated for stab injuries.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, 24-year-old Suhayb Abdulkadir was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Four men were arrested that evening on suspicion of murder.

Abdullahi Abdi, aged 24 and of Lincoln Street in Leytonstone, and Hanet Ahmed, aged 25, were previously charged with murder on Sunday, 26th April. They are both remanded in custody and will next appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 15th July.

One man, aged 24, has been bailed and another, aged 22, has been released under investigation.

In a tribute, Suhayb’s family said: “Suhayb lit up every room he entered and put a smile on the faces of even those who did not know him.

“He was an amazing uncle to his niece, honourable brother to his siblings and dutiful son to his mother.

“Although his death has been devastating, it has been heart-warming to hear the many stories from people from all walks of life sharing the massive impact he has had on them.

“His presence, warmth and kindness will never be forgotten and he has left an everlasting impact on all of those who were fortunate to know him.

“We love you immensely, Suhayb, more than you know, and we cannot wait for you to be reunited with your brother.”
