Polling stations are now open across Waltham Forest as voting gets underway for the local election.

Registered voters will be able to select either two or three candidates on their ballot papers, depending on the size of their ward.

In total there are 291 candidates standing across 22 wards, with 60 councillors set to be elected.

Voters can find their nearest polling stations here. Everyone must bring photographic identification to be able to vote – a list of valid ID can be found here.

The polls close at 10pm tonight (Thursday 7th).

Counting of votes will not begin until 9am tomorrow (Friday 8th) at Walthamstow Assembly Hall, with the bulk of the results expected by mid-afternoon.

The Echo will be providing live coverage from the count via a live blog on this website.
