North Chingford photographer Nicky Bamber has captured the faces behind the many female-run businesses in Station Road and she tells us about her latest exhibition ‘Her Work, Her Story’

I’ve been a portrait photographer for over 20 years and I’ve had my studio in Station Road, Chingford for eleven years.
Her Work, Her Story is my fourth annual exhibition for International Women’s Day and it’s always inspired by the unique and interesting women who have been my customers.

This year, I decided to go outside the studio and photograph women who run a business in Station Road. It’s been a tough year to keep going in the current economic climate and I felt these photos really captured the determination, hard work, resilience and commitment to keep going their businesses going despite the odds.
It has been really well received by the North Chingford community and I’m proud to share it with the borough.
