A Chingford Mount bar has seen its licence revoked amid a police investigation into a stabbing.
Police were called to Scorpion Lounge, in Hall Lane, at around 4.48am on Sunday, 1st February following reports of an attack.
Two men were hospitalised with multiple stab wounds, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Early last month, the Met applied to Waltham Forest Council for a review of the bar’s licence, citing numerous alleged breaches.
In a heavily-redacted report submitted to the town hall, the Met said the licence holders had confirmed the venue did not call the police following the incident, preserve the crime scene, nor ensure a staff member was present when officers arrived.
Additionally, the incident occurred “well beyond” its opening hours and it did not use ID scanners, which is a mandatory requirement.
The bar was granted permission to serve alcohol to seated patrons by Waltham Forest Council last January, on the conditions it closed at 2am and stopped serving at 1.30am.
It was stripped of this licence following a formal meeting on Friday (20th), held behind closed doors, after councillors were told of patrons drinking while standing and having been seen pouring their own drinks.
Such hearings, overseen by a committee of elected councillors, are often held in public.
Scorpion Lounge was contacted for comment.
