Residents received duplicate emails this morning advising them to view their council tax bill, reports Marco Marcelline

Waltham Forest Council has apologised for a “technical issue” that resulted in some residents receiving up to 60 duplicate emails this morning (Friday 20th March) advising them to view their council tax bill.
In a post on Facebook, council leader Grace Williams said Waltham Forest’s revenue and benefits team was investigating the cause.
Residents who have received the email are being told there is no need to take any action and their council tax accounts were unaffected, with there being no risk to their personal information or payments.
In a public statement, the council said: “We are aware that some residents have received several emails regarding the availability of their council tax bill online, due to a technical issue.
“We apologise for any confusion this may have caused and want to reassure you that, despite the multiple emails, your council tax account is unaffected and there is no risk to your personal information or payments.
“There is no need for residents to take any action at this time. Our team is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
Update (23/03): A council spokesperson told the Echo: “Due to a technical issue, some residents who are signed up to council tax paperless billing received multiple identical emails last night. The emails, all dated 19th March 2026, gave instructions on how to log into the council tax portal to access their bill. We are contacting affected residents to apologise for the duplication and make clear their council tax account is unaffected.”
