Police launch inquiry after man found with head injury in Walthamstow street

The Met is treating the incident as grievous bodily harm

Farnan Avenue yesterday

Police are looking to speak to witnesses after a man was found with a head injury in Farnan Avenue, near Forest Road in Walthamstow yesterday afternoon (12th November).

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene at around 2.22pm, which remains taped off from the public today.

The man was taken into an ambulance on a stretcher and then moved on to hospital.

In a statement to the Echo, the Metropolitan Police said it was treating the incident as “grievous bodily harm” and added it was waiting to hear for an update on his condition.

In photos of the scene taken yesterday afternoon at around 3.40pm, a bottle of alcohol could be seen lying on the taped off road next to a first aid kit.

Meanwhile the Echo understands that at around 4pm London Ambulance Service staff entered the nearby Bell pub asking if an “extremely intoxicated” patient could use the bathroom. Emergency services have not confirmed if this is connected to the incident on Farnan Avenue, however.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 101 or post on X @MetCC quoting 4354/12NOV
