Fungi fans are invited to take part in a mushroom spotting walk near Highams Park Station later this month.

While not a foraging course, the family-friendly fungi foray will teach people how to spot wood-decaying fungi including species like the Turkey Tail, Jelly Brain, and Black Witches Butter.

According to the London Fungus Network, participants will be taught how to identify common cold-season mushroom species and informed on the “role of fungi in the ecosystem and human culture”.

Attendees will start the walk with a cup of a free mushroom tea (provided they bring their own cup to drink with).

The walk may not be suitable for buggies or wheelchairs as it is taking over uneven ground and steep terrain which is likely to be muddy. Appropriate footwear is advised.

Tickets start from £11.55. You can book here
