Credited with co-writing ten of the twelve tracks on the Sex Pistol’s sole studio album, songwriter and bass guitarist Glen Matlock will perform a short set and deliver a book talk at a sold-out Trades Hall tonight

The bass guitarist in the original line-up of the Sex Pistols is set to make an appearance at a sold-out Walthamstow Trades Hall tonight to promote his memoir, Triggers.
Glen Matlock will discuss thirty of his most formative songs – from the ones that influenced him as a child to the ones he wrote and played on as a star while in conversation with author Travis Elborough before participating in an audience Q&A session and playing a short acoustic set.
A songwriter as well as a bass guitarist, he is credited with co-writing ten of the twelve tracks on the Sex Pistol’s sole studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks. He left the band in 1977 and formed the Rich Kids with Midge Ure, enjoying chart success with their 1978 ‘Rich Kids’ single.
Matlock also performed with the likes of Iggy Pop, David Bowie, The Faces, Blondie and Primal Scream during his time as a bass guitarist.
According to event organisers, Matlock is set to share insider tales of the Sex Pistols’ earliest gigs and “stormiest” reunions, as well as reveal the reality behind inter-band dynamics.
Matlock has been involved in all three subsequent Sex Pistols reunions tours, the last of which took place in 2007 before relations with singer John Lydon once again broke down.
Later this year, Matlock will release his sixth solo album, Consequences Coming, and joins Blondie on their forthcoming album and tour.
The event comes soon after DJ Fatboy Slim took to the decks in Trades Hall on 28th September for the second iteration of Stow-Ho House, a charity event put on in aid of Waltham Forest food bank Eat or Heat.
The event organisers say that Trades Hall was the first time Fatboy Slim had performed in Walthamstow, with Trades Hall being the smallest venue he had played in years.
The line-up also included esteemed music producer James Ford, one half of electronic duo Simian Mobile Disco, and will also feature a set from house and disco selector Sarahtonin.
