Police have now identified the teenage boy stabbed to death in Chingford this week as 17-year-old Chima Osuji.

Police were called to Longshaw Road, a quiet residential street, shortly before 9.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday, 10th April.

They found Chima suffering from a stab wound and – despite the best efforts of paramedics, London’s Air Ambulance and members of the public who stopped to help – he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

Two days later, two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the shocking attack and the older of the pair has since been charged with murder. The following day, police arrested a third teenager, also aged 16.

Speaking previously to the press, Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith said police’s investigation into the “tragic incident” was “continuing at pace”.

He added: “However, our enquiries very much continue and I would appeal to anyone with information who is yet to speak to us to come forward. Your information, no matter how small you think it is, could help get justice for a grieving family.

“This incident has had a devastating impact on the victim’s friends and family and I’d ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”

Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to call the incident room on 020 8345 3985 or police on 101 quoting CAD 6358/10Apr. You can also message @MetCC on Twitter.
