A new locally formed campaign group called ‘Bleed Kits Now’ is raising awareness of how bleed kits can save lives – here‘s how you can help them
We are ‘Bleed Kits Now’ and our aim is to raise awareness of the importance of bleed kits that can potentially save the life of anyone losing blood due to for example a stabbing or even an accident in those crucial minutes whilst waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
James Russell (Our founder) was previously involved with a nationwide group called ‘Binning Knives Saves Lives’ with the aim of taking knives off the streets which made headline news.
Bleed Kits come with various contents, but to give you an idea, a basic bleed kit contains: a vented chest seal, gauze, tourniquet, various dressings, shears and other contents to help stop bleeding.
If you go to the King Ford Wetherspoons Pub or the Nationwide Building Society at Chingford Mount you will see Bleed Kits installed there to give you an example.
Our aim is to raise funds for the kits and donate them to The Daniel Baird Foundation (a nationwide registration charity) who can then install them in local establishments like pubs, clubs, cafes, community centres, libraries and more within Waltham Forest.
Once the bleed kits are donated they are registered with the emergency services so in the event one is needed the emergency services can direct the caller to the nearest kit.
We have had a lot of enthusiasm from local residents, and Valley Ward councillor Afzal Akram who is advising us on ward funding.
And we also would like to thank local resident Gail Penfold for her guidance.
It is vital to get the bleed kits out there where they are needed and we are working hard to drum up as much support for our fundraiser as possible.
We are non-profit and 100% of money raised goes towards our cause.
Our fundraising event will take place on Saturday 5th December in the evening at the Royal British Legion in Hall Lane, Chingford, E4 8HW.
The event will be ticketed with live entertainment from local performers, raffle prizes donated by local businesses, and food donated by kind locals. Please join us!
