A Walthamstow GP practice has moved to a new home as it prepares for its patient list to almost triple in size.

The Bailey’s Practice was previously located in Shernhall Street but opened the doors of its new home at Comely Bank Clinic, in Ravenswood Road, yesterday.

A press release from the North East London NHS states the move was “much-needed” to allow the practice to accommodate up to 6,000 patients, “nearly three times” what it sees currently, ahead of “future population growth”.

The new home will also provide the 30-year-old family-run practice with “more space for its staff and modern facilities for its patients”, making room for new services such as physiotherapy and family planning.

William Cunningham-Davis, from NHS North East London, said the project is the result of a “successful partnership” between the NHS and Waltham Forest Council.

He added: “This development brings us another step closer to providing Waltham Forest residents with fit-for-purpose healthcare buildings that will support the wider transformation of the local health and care system in order to improve patient experiences and health outcomes.”

The local NHS hopes the new practice will offer more ways for patients to digitally “self-monitor” their health, “allowing them to take more control of their care” and reducing the strain on the health service.

The expansion is necessary due to an influx of new residents expected to fill flats currently being built in Walthamstow and further across the borough.
