A man has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after plowing into a Waltham Forest cop car.

The force’s official Twitter account said its officers had a “lucky escape” after being crashed into from behind on the A406 in the early hours of 11th February.

Photos from the scene show the back of the police car was damaged, while the front of the other driver’s car was destroyed.

The driver is accused of having been almost three times over the legal limit.

Those found guilty of drunk driving can receive a prison sentence of up to six months, an unlimited fine and a driving ban of at least a year or longer, if they are a repeat offender.
