Residents across the borough are being invited to share their thoughts on the cost of living, community safety, housing, and infrastructure they think Waltham Forest needs, reports Sebastian Mann, Local Democracy Reporter
Waltham Forest Council will host four ‘neighbourhood assemblies’ throughout September to gauge residents’ views on the borough’s future.
Residents across the borough will be invited to share their thoughts on the cost of living, community safety, housing, and infrastructure they think Waltham Forest needs.
The first forum will be held in Leytonstone on Tuesday, 15th September, running from 6pm until 9pm, followed by an event in Leyton on Tuesday, 22nd September at the same time.
They will be followed by an assembly in Walthamstow on Thursday, 24th September from 6.30pm until 9.30pm, before a final meeting in Chingford on Wednesday, 30th September from 6pm until 9pm.
Residents will need to register before they can attend.
Councillor Paul Perkins, the new Green leader of the council, said: “What kind of borough do we want Waltham Forest to be in 20 years’ time?
“What do we want our neighbourhoods to look like for generations to come? What kind of future can we imagine?
“This is what we’re asking through Future Waltham Forest, our borough-wide conversation with residents, communities and partners launched last week to help shape the future of Waltham Forest.”
“Your responses will help us form the new Borough Plan for the next four years, and create a long-term vision for Waltham Forest,” he said.
Local ward councillors will also host engagement sessions throughout the month and into October, alongside invite-only roundtable discussions with “a small group of local residents with deep experience in the area, experts and local community groups”.
Cllr Perkins added: “Every community, every neighbourhood and every resident brings a unique perspective and valuable experience.
“We want to hear from you. Now is the opportunity to get involved and help shape our future.”
