The nineteenth annual Leytonstone Arts Trail will feature a vast array of artwork by a huge number of artists throughout E11 and parts of Leyton. All manner of venues will be transformed into temporary galleries over nine days in early July.

Started in 2008 by a small group of artists as part of the Leytonstone Festival, it has grown into an independent and separate event, self-funded and run by volunteers. It attracts a diverse range of artists from professionals to hobbyists of all backgrounds and ages. Each trail evolves its own personality owing to the particular mix of participating artists and hosting organisations.

Cafes, pubs, churches, art studios, homes and gardens will host artworks in all media. An eclectic range of events will also run alongside the exhibitions. Visitors are invited to devise their own Trail routes using the maps in the Trail Guide or the website.

Trail events this year include a digital art course, music, an immersive performance and assorted workshops … these are listed in the Guide so people can plan around their own interests.

This year, there are a number of Trail locations at the top of the High Road, making an ideal walk from the Quakers Meeting House via the North Star pub down to Church Lane and further on down the High Road; Other busy locations are around Grove Green Road, Francis Road and Cann Hall Road.

Chris Davies, participating artist said: “What I like about the trail is that it brings a rich variety of visual arts to Leytonstone – this has an uplifting effect on a great number of people and brings communities together.”

Abdul Sayed, manager of the Geek Community Hub said: “I love being able to display beautiful art in my shop which can be appreciated by my customers from all over the Leytonstone community.”

Alongside the formal trail the ever popular “Let’s Fill Leytonstone with Art” project encourages people to participate by putting their own art up in their windows, gardens and balconies during the trail and throughout the summer.

The Trail reaches out to the local community inviting all to enjoy the creative diversity Leytonstone can offer. It makes art accessible to everyone, both as producers and consumers.

The full programme list is in the printed Guide, available now from Leytonstone Library the Stone Mini Market, and other venues.

Details will also be available on www.leytonstoneartstrail.org soon
