Photography: What Mums Eat by Chiron Cole

Local photographer and mother of two Chiron Cole presents intimate photographic portraits that reveal how mothers are actually eating in the early stages of motherhood.

The exhibition What Mothers Eat helps to make maternal eating habits visible, offering cultural context and highlighting the gap between what mothers need and what daily life often allows.

Chiron says she developed the idea through close observation of postnatal life. Speaking about the exhibition, she said: “Again and again, I saw mothers surviving on scraps, eating standing up, finishing children’s leftovers, or not eating at all. It became clear that this wasn’t a personal failure, but a structural one. What Mums Eat starts with food because when mothers eat well, everyone benefits.”

The exhibition What Mums Eat runs from Friday 13th – Sunday 22nd March at Three Rooms, 74 Beulah Road, E17 9LE. Find out more: whatmumseat.com
