Exclusive: The Met has submitted an application to the council for a review of the Scorpion Lounge’s licence after two men were stabbed following a disturbance in the bar on Sunday morning, reports Marco Marcelline

A Chingford Mount bar connected to a stabbing could lose its license after the Metropolitan Police submitted a review application to Waltham Forest Council.
Two men were hospitalised with stab injuries following a disturbance that began inside Scorpion Lounge in Hall Lane in the early hours of Sunday (1st February).
Police were first called to Hall Lane at around 4.48am where they found a man in his 30s with a stab wound. He was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as “not life-threatening or life-changing”, a Met spokesperson said.
The Met was then called at 5.55am to reports of a man in his 30s with stab injuries in a car in Wanstead Lane, Ilford.
Police officers believe both incidents to be linked, with a force spokesperson stating a disturbance is understood to have began inside the Scorpion Lounge before spilling outside.
Two men, aged 33 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm but have since been released on bail while the Met’s investigation continues.
Yesterday (3rd February), the Met submitted an application to the council for a review of the Scorpion Lounge’s licence, issued in January 2025.
Confirming the move, a town hall spokesperson said: “Council officers are working closely with police colleagues and will continue to provide all necessary support as the investigation progresses. It is further understood that the premises will remain closed at this time.”
Under the terms of its license, the venue was allowed to open between 10am and 12.30am on weekdays, and between 10am and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The license also stipulates that there is no designated dance floor and patrons need to be seated to drink.
At a licensing sub-committee meeting last January, Maloku said he installed £30,000 worth of soundproofing amid noise concerns from residents.
At the same meeting, a license officer said the council had investigated the premises after hearing it had stayed open until 4am on several occasions, but no evidence of breaches was found.
In a promotional post on Instagram for an event last weekend (31st January), the bar gave a start time of 11pm.
Scorpion Lounge did not respond to a request for comment.
Any person who wishes to comment on the application for the review of the licence may do so by emailing [email protected] no later than Tuesday, 3rd March
