It’s also the third time in four years the rail company has picked up the prize

Greater Anglia has been named ‘Passenger Operator of the Year’ at the National Rail Awards 2025 for the second year in a row.
The soon-to-be-nationalised rail company has now won the award three times in four years, having also picked up the prize in 2022.
Greater Anglia operates rail services along the West Anglia Main Line, serving stations in eastern Enfield and Haringey boroughs, as well as Lea Bridge in Waltham Forest on the route between Tottenham Hale and Stratford.
The company has been the most punctual operator in the UK since April 2023 with annual performance currently at 93.7%, meaning fewer than one-in-ten trains are late. It has also been praised for its new bi-mode trains which can operate as both electrified and diesel units.
According to the National Rail Awards: “All the judges agreed that this is a TOC [train operating company] at the top of its game but one that has not rested on its laurels. The series of initiatives designed to improve the customer experience across the board, and to drive organic growth, are to be commended.”
The last year has seen Greater Anglia focusing on station upgrades, which have included installing new shelters at Brimsdown and Northumberland Park stations.
However, the firm was also criticised in 2023 for axing services at Edmonton Green Station and severely reducing them at Seven Sisters.
Martin Beable, managing director at Greater Anglia, said: “Everyone at Greater Anglia is really proud to have won the Passenger Operator of the Year award for the second year running and third time in four years.
“All across our company, colleagues are passionate about doing their best for the customers and communities we serve. With excellent performance, a commitment to customer service, high-quality new trains, and effective partnerships with other rail industry organisations and wider stakeholders, we’re fully focused on maintaining our high standards.”
In the last year, Greater Anglia has also been named ‘Rail Operator of the Year’ at the Spotlight Rail Awards, ‘Train Operator of the Year’ at the Rail Business Awards, three ‘Golden Whistles’ awards for its high standards of punctuality and reliability, and a ‘Golden Spanner’ award for the performance of its bi-mode trains.
