A 19-year-old-man was airlifted to hospital after suffering a stab injury in Leyton tonight (29th October).

Emergency services were called at around 7.10pm to reports of a number of people in possession of knives on High Road Leyton, near the junction with Windsor Road.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Gunshots were also heard in the vicinity of the stabbing, though there are no reported injuries related to this, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.

A section of the pavement on Leyton High Road, including the entrance to Tesco was taped off, while police cordoned off the entrance to Windsor Road.

According to an eyewitness who passed the scene at 9pm this evening, officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Territorial Support Group were in attendance. Officers remain in the area.

The London Ambulance Service sent members of its Tactical Response Unit, an incident response officer and an air ambulance to the scene. In addition to the 19-year-old, a second patient was treated at the scene, for stab injuries, before being taken to a major trauma centre.
