A locally based social sewing and mending club will host a special event as part of the William Morris Design Line on Sunday (22nd September).

Walthamstow’s Monday Mending Club, which aims to spread the joy of mending clothing and textiles, will run a special weekend edition of their monthly social meet up, which is usually at Big Penny Social.

The William Morris Design Line, created by Wood Street Walls in 2020, highlights “the richness of Waltham Forest’s past and present creative community and encourages visitors to discover, learn and interact with an incredible range of design, making and creative activity.”

The Monday Mending Club meets on the first Monday of each month for a two-hour session of social sewing. The club welcomes those of all abilities in sewing and gives them the opportunity to connect with new people and make friends “while giving your clothes a new lease on life.”

The special event on 22nd September is run by artist, designer, maker, and mender, Mika Sembongi. She is encouraging visitors to bring along any items in need of repair.

The free drop-in event for adults will take place from 2pm to 4pm in the Acanthus Room on the second floor of the William Morris building. There is no need to book.
