Local surrealist artist to make solo exhibition debut

Natasha Awuku’s upcoming exhibition features an array of surrealist paintings inspired by nature, clouds, mythical flying Japanese Koi fish

An emerging local award-winning musician and artist is set to launch her debut solo exhibition this week. 

Natasha Awuku, who lives in Waltham Forest, will show “Welcome to the Cloudscape” from Wednesday 17th July until 21st August at art venue Two More Years in Hackney Wick.

The exhibition features an array of surrealist paintings inspired by nature, clouds, mythical flying Japanese Koi fish.

“Clouds are where I go to daydream. I imagine all kinds of weird and wonderful scenes. It’s pure escapism,”says Natasha.

Using a dynamic blend of acrylic and spray paint, Natasha’s artwork has earned her the prestigious Art of Energy prize in 2021. Her captivating works have also been shown at the renowned Riverside Studios London, and showcased by The Art Hound Gallery as part of the ‘Bad Reputation’ exhibit in 2022.

The same year witnessed her inclusion in the Black Excellence curated display at The Affordable Art Fair in Battersea.

Natasha is also a versatile singer, multi-instrumentalist, and adept music producer. Her creative journey extends into the realms of house and soul, and has also collaborated as a session singer with notable artists including the likes of Basement Jaxx.
