The event will provide locals the opportunity to connect with others who share their experiences with cancer, writes Rana Rastegari

A funeral home in Highams Park is inviting local community members to their coffee morning on Tuesday 6th August from 10am – 2pm, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Co-op Funeralcare is inviting residents and locals to enjoy a ‘brew and a chat’ where they can talk about their experiences with cancer in a welcoming and understanding environment.
The team at Co-op Funeralcare will provide locals with advice as well as the opportunity to connect with people who share their experiences. Alongside coffee, cakes and refreshments will be available and the event will also encourage cake donations and a chance to take part in a book swap initiative.
The event is open to the whole family as there will be a children’s colouring competition with a chocolate hamper up for grabs. In addition, there will be a raffle for adults.
The funeral home will also have a light-up memorial tree to allow visitors to share the names of loved ones they have lost and pay tribute or take some time to reflect.
Faryn Sloane, funeral arranger at Co-op Funeralcare, stated: “A lot of us here at Co-op Funeralcare Highams Park have been personally affected by or have lost loved ones to cancer, so we feel that Macmillan is particularly close to home. We want to create a cheerful environment where like minded people can feel comfortable to talk about their experiences, or simply to enjoy some company
“As a member-owned company, we’re pleased to have the opportunity to support causes close to us and we hope to use this coffee morning to raise awareness, make a difference and honour those we’ve lost.”
