Residents near Osier Way were told to stay inside on Monday night due to heavy smoke from 50 tonnes of rubbish that was alight

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a fire at a waste facility on Osier Way, Leyton, on Monday night (17th June).
Calls were made to emergency services after around 50 tonnes of rubbish was alight. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said residents in the immediate area were asked to remain inside, keeping doors and windows shut, as crews responded.
This was due to the large amount of smoke being produced, the LFB said.
The LFB received the first of around 15 calls reporting the fire at 10.20pm on Monday. The incident was under control just before 4am on Tuesday (18th June). Firefighters from Leyton, Leytonstone, Stratford and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and there are no reports of any injuries, the force said in a statement.
