The Clapton rock and roll dive bar Blondies is set to open a brewery and taproom in Leyton.

The brewery will be housed in Patchworks, a multifunctional venue that is part furniture factory, and part creative space.

Run by two Australian sisters, Sharmaine and Verity Cox, the tiny 50 people capacity Clapton venue has been entertaining rock and metal fans for years and has played host to various parties including famous rock musician Frank Carter’s birthday bash. Now, the sisters will brew their own beer at the Leyton site, while promising a family friendly taproom.

Blondie’s lager, already on tap at the Clapton dive bar, was made with help from Hackney Wick based microbrewery Mammoth Beer, and it has a 4.4% ABV.

The brewery had been due to open on 28th July but due to the volume of work that needs to be completed, its opening has been pushed back to an unreleased date later this year.
