The death is not being treated as suspicious
A passenger fell ill and died this morning at Walthamstow Central Station.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police (BTP) said officers were called to the station shortly after 7.30am this morning, 11th April, due to concerns for a passenger’s welfare.
It is understood that the passenger fell ill while on a train at the station and was pronounced dead at the scene. Their death is not being treated as suspicious.
The station was temporarily closed while the emergency services responded to the incident but reopened shortly after 10am.
The BTP spokesperson added: “Officers are working to identify the individual and inform their next of kin. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
The last tragedy at the station happened almost a year ago, when a woman fell down the stairs to the ticket hall and suffered a serious head injury. She later died in hospital.
