The ten images will stay up until 9th September

A public photography exhibition documenting coffee production has taken over Leytonstone High Road today.

Ten photos taken by local photographer Jake Green have appeared on public buildings from the Overground station to Matalan and will stay up until 9th September.

The exhibition – titled ‘Drink My Sweat’, based on a Swahili expression about enjoying the results of hard work – documents coffee production in Kenya, Columbia and Honduras.

Jake Green told the Echo that, having grown up in Leytonstone, it was an “absolute honour” to have the “amazing opportunity to share the project with [his] community.”

He explained that, as an “obsessive coffee drinker”, it became his personal mission to humanise coffee production and illustrate the amount of hard labour it requires, inspiring people to better appreciate the privilege of having access to good coffee.
