A driver has been arrested after colliding with a cyclist on a busy Walthamstow junction.

Police were called to the Bell Corner junction of Forest Road shortly before 1pm today and found a 35-year-old cyclist with “serious leg injuries”.

The cyclist, who witnesses claim was delivering food, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital.

While the presence of London’s Air Ambulance raised concerns about his welfare, it has since been confirmed that his injuries are not life-threatening.

The driver did not stop at the scene and was arrested a short time later at a nearby address.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed he was arrested on suspicion of “causing injury through dangerous driving”.

He has since been taken into police custody.
