A man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a man in his 60s in Walthamstow on Friday (20th February).

Eugeniu Neamtu, 58, of Westbury Road, is due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court today (23rd February) to hear his charge.

On Friday (20th February), Metropolitan Police officers were called at 8.59pm to a property in Westbury Road to reports of a stabbing.

Police and paramedics found a man with stab wounds to his chest. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are in the process of informing his next-of-kin.

Four men – two aged in their 20s and two in their 50s – were arrested later that evening on suspicion of murder. Only Neamtu has been charged, as the other three were released no further action.

The investigation is being led by homicide detectives from the Met’s specialist crime command, who continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting CAD 7109/20FEB. To remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
