A Walthamstow business welcomed the rapper Krept from hip-hop duo Krept & Konan to an event aimed at celebrating fathers and their babies.

MOTHER & MORE, founded by Rebecca Beazley, teamed up with Casyo “Krept” Johnson who founded baby skincare brand Nala’s Baby to celebrate fathers at a special “Dads & Babies Day” on Sunday 21st September.

The event took place in Walthamstow Village and brought together dads and their babies for a baby massage and baby yoga masterclass, a relaxed lunch, and a powerful sharing circle led by Krept, where fathers spoke openly about the joys, challenges, fears, and hopes they hold for their children.

Rebecca created weekend workshops for dads alongside her weekday courses (mainly attended by new mums) after noticing that, while new mums had plenty of groups to attend, very little existed for new dads.

“What started with three dads and babies in my living room has turned into a movement,” she said.

“Between the shocking two weeks’ paternity leave and a baby class industry that seemed to only focus on mums, dads were being left out – left out of experiences with their new babies and out of the conversation in general.

“We decided to change that. Teaming up with Krept and Nala’s Baby was like a dream come true. We share such a strong family ethos and the same mission to bring dads into the fore a little more.”

One dad summed it up simply: “The first time I’ve felt truly seen as a dad outside of the home.”

Co-founded by Krept, Nala’s Baby has become one of the UK’s fastest-growing baby brands, while their products are 97-99% naturally derived, vegan, cruelty-free, and paediatrician approved.

The partnership builds on MOTHER & MORE’s popular weekend workshops for dads, which have been running in East London since before the pandemic – and continues its mission to reach even more new fathers locally and further afield.
