The police are investigating a fire that gutted a Walthamstow flat on Tuesday (18th March).
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to the fire at around 3.20am. Alongside destroying the ground floor flat on Pennant Terrace, part of a neighbouring flat was also damaged by fire, while one person evacuated the flat above before the London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived.
No injuries were reported, emergency services have said. Firefighting crews from Walthamstow, Tottenham, Leyton and Chingford fire stations were deployed to the fire, which is under investigation by both the LFB and the Metropolitan Police.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “We were called at approximately 3.20am on 18th March to reports of a fire at a property in Pennant Terrace, E17. London Fire Brigade attended and dealt with the blaze.
“Enquiries into the circumstances including the cause of the fire remain ongoing.”
