Big Penny Social will host events including bingo, a curling competition, and an orchestral show this festive period
Blackhorse Lane beer hall Big Penny Social has unveiled a jam-packed Christmas events programme, including a curling competition, a live wrestling show, and a hectic festive party filled with brews, and live DJ sets.
Currently running in the beer hall’s heated and covered garden until the end of January, is a Winter Curling Emporium. Visitors can rally a team, bring along friends and family, and dive into some friendly competition on the ice-free curling lanes.
On Friday (6th December), Eve Wrestling takes over the venue, bringing high-energy thrills, humour, and tongue-in-cheek action, for a one-of-a-kind combination of women’s wrestling with cabaret.
And on Saturday (7th December) is the Black Horse Beer Mile All-Day Christmas Party. Teaming up with Blackhorse Road’s top breweries, there will be a total of 20 beers on tap including Signature Brew, Pretty Decent, Exale, Beerblefish Brewing, Renegade, Hackney, and Burnt Faith. Live DJ sets will keep the dancefloor busy until 2am.
For those seeking a less raucous evening, The Basement Orchestra returns to Walthamstow with a Christmas show featuring a 50-piece ensemble blending classical and popular tunes on Sunday 8th December.
The festivities continue with The Big Christmas Social on 6th, 12th and 13th December—an evening designed for groups of 10 to 40. It starts with a bubbly (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) drink, followed by seasonal roasts or festive puff pies, live music, and a close-up magician.
Not sure what to do in between Christmas and the New Year? Saturday 28th December brings the return of Bongo’s Bingo to Big Penny Social—a fan favourite that always sells out fast. This riotous, Christmas-themed show promises “Bingo All The Way” with festive bangers, special prizes, dance-offs, singalongs, and, of course, a round or two of bingo.
