Smoke billowed from the roof of a two storey building housing an off-licence and a flat in Coppermill Lane this afternoon, reports Marco Marcelline

40 firefighters tackled a fire in a flat above an off-licence on Coppermill Lane in Walthamstow this afternoon which left the building’s roof partly destroyed.
The fire, which began at around 1pm, is believed to have originated from the loft of the two storey building.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said one person left the property before firefighters arrived. No injuries have been reported.
Residents and business owners on Coppermill Lane were forced to leave their flats and shops while the blaze was tackled.
Smoke alarms went off inside The Mill Community Centre, which is located two doors down, with staff and visitors forced to evacuate until firefighters declared the fire under control at 2.09pm.
Firefighters, who were seen entering the property wearing masks, tackled the fire using two water hoses. A 32-metre turntable ladder was also used at the scene to help fight the fire from above.
Six fire engines from Walthamstow, Leyton, Tottenham, Leytonstone, and Homerton fire stations rushed to the scene, with the LFB first being alerted at 1.14pm.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, however police attended the scene after the blaze was put out.
