Walthamstow Village wine shop to reopen as restaurant

hometipple, on Orford Road, will officially reopen next Wednesday (20th November) with top chef Lucy Timm running a residency until 30th March

Walthamstow Village wine shop and café hometipple is set to reopen its doors as a restaurant and drinking destination on Wednesday 20th November following an extensive renovation.

Hometipple now has a rear dining space in addition to a heated, covered patio area.

The expansion also incudes a brand-new professional kitchen where chef Lucy Timm will cook up the first of hometipple’s planned culinary residencies until 30th March.

Lucy, whose career spans renowned London establishments including Leroy in Shoreditch and Royale in Bow, is slated to bring a “refined modern European menu with Mediterranean influences” to hometipple.

On the menu: Onglet steak, salsa verde, pearl onions, jus

“My approach to food is about elevated nostalgia,” says Lucy, whose work has earned praise from critics including Grace Dent and Fay Maschler. “It’s about letting seasonal produce sing while creating dishes that feel both sophisticated and comforting.”

The menu features dishes such as Moroccan-spiced steak tartare with fried shallots, skate wing with saffron beurre blanc and trout roe, and a soft chocolate ganache with olive oil caramel. Each dish can be paired with wines handpicked by owner and wine expert Mikey Studer from hometipple’s curated selection.

“This expansion represents a new chapter for both hometipple and Walthamstow Village’s dining scene,” says Mikey. “While we’ll continue to operate as a wine and spirits shop, the addition of Lucy’s residency allows us to offer a complete food and wine experience.”

Dinner service operates Wednesday to Saturday 6.30pm to 9.30pm, with lunch served Friday and Saturday 12pm to 3.30pm, plus an extended Sunday lunch service from 12pm to 6pm.
