A Waltham Forest cop who inappropriately touched a female colleague while on duty has been dismissed from the Metropolitan Police after a misconduct hearing yesterday.

At the hearing on Monday, PC Rafiqur Rahman was found to have breached the standards of discreditable conduct.

Responding to the ruling, Waltham Forest policing boss Simon Crick said: “All of my officers are expected to behave with the utmost integrity, both towards the public and towards their colleagues.

“I’m sickened that my officer was assaulted in this way and we are taking steps to ensure her continued welfare. Rahman has no place in the Met or policing and has now been rightly dismissed.”

An investigation by the directorate of professional standards was launched after the female officer reported in June 2022 that Rahman had inappropriately touched her while she was on shift with him in February 2021.

According to the Met, during the following shift, the officer sent PC Rahman a message about another matter and he responded with an inappropriate message.

PC Rahman was placed on restricted duties while an investigation was carried out. The panel found the allegations against him proven at the level of gross misconduct.

As a result of the misconduct finding, PC Rahman will be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing. Those appearing on the list cannot be employed by police, local policing bodies (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
