Leyton Leisure Centre is embarking on a £40,000 programme of improvements this autumn.

The popular Aqua Play area is being upgraded with a new interactive water play station. The feature – which will be open in time for October half term – will give young children more opportunities to splash, play and explore, leisure centre operator GLL says.

The new interactive station, which will replace the existing snake squirt feature, will include a range of interactive water elements, including a waterwheel, an interactive bowl with a spinning paddle and squirting rotating flowers.

Daniel O’Connor, GLL partnership manager for Waltham Forest, said: “We know how popular the Aqua Play feature is with local families, so we’re really pleased to give our youngest customers something new to enjoy that will bring even more fun to the pool.”

The works will take place this month and will require the Aqua Play area to be temporarily closed for one day while the new equipment is installed.

In addition, following the success of the women’s only gym which launched in September, a new toilet and changing area will be created on the first floor of the centre, giving customers additional choice and capacity.

Daniel O’Connor says: “The first floor is busy with group exercise, group cycle, parent spectator area and now the women-only gym. Adding a new toilet and changing area will make a real difference to the customers who use this part of the centre every week.”
