Pitchstone Music, which aims to bring “world class classical music” to Leytonstone, is putting on a family friendly event at St John’s Church, High Road Leytonstone, tomorrow (19th July).

Presenter and performer Rosie Bergonzi will host the music show, in which children will be encouraged to respond naturally with “wriggles, giggles, and spontaneous dance moves”. Children with special needs will be celebrated and supported during the morning event.

Rosie will be joined by Rachel Roberts, founder of Pitchstone Music, and fellow musicians Irene Duval, Claudia Ajmone-Marsan and Steffan Morris. They’ll perform excerpts from a variety of works for string quartet by Faure, Dvorak, Suk and Caroline Shaw.

The event starts at 10.45am and ends at midday. And in the evening, between 7pm and 9pm, there will be a concert for adults featuring the same performers.

Rachel, who teaches viola at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, has big plans to spread the fun and excitement of live classical performance in schools across the Borough, and hopefully will win a few converts on the 19th.

Both events are free and are part of the Leytonstone Festival.
