Arrests after man shot in Leyton street

A man in his 20s was rushed to hospital after being shot near St George’s Road in Leyton yesterday evening

Two people have been arrested after a man was shot in Leyton yesterday evening (27th November).

Armed police responded to reports of gunshots heard near St George’s Road in Leyton at around 6.10pm. There they found a man, aged in his mid-20s, with a gunshot injury. 

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said his injury is not believed to be life-threatening, though he remains in hospital. 

The force later confirmed that two people have been arrested in connection with the investigation, with enquiries continuing.

Calvin Bailey, the MP for Leyton and Wanstead said: “I am alarmed by reports of gunshots near St George’s Road in Leyton last night, and I know this will be of deep concern to residents. I will continue to liaise with the police as their investigation continues.”
