Local 'rising star' nominated for BAFTAThe actor grew up in Highams Park
A local actor is one of five nominees to win this year's BAFTA for rising stars.
Harris Dickinson, who last year appeared in The King's Man as Conrad, is in the running for the Rising Star Award, the only BAFTA awarded by public vote.
The 25-year-old, who was born in Leytonstone and raised in Highams Park, got his big break in 2017 after starring in indie film Beach Rats.
He still lives locally and, according to a Guardian interview, kept busy during lockdown by volunteering at Project Parker, the since-closed homeless shelter in Wood Street.
Also nominated for the award are Bond star Lashana Lynch, Ariana Debose from Spielberg's West Side Story, former child actor Millicent Simmonds and Kodi Smit-Mcphee - known for playing Nightcrawler in recent X-Men installments.
