Death in Lloyd Park last year 'caused by alcohol and heroin'

A man found dead in Lloyd Park last year is thought to have died from mixing alcohol and heroin, his inquest reveals.

As reported in the Newham Recorder, the inquest for 37-year-old Vitalijs Grava from West Ham began on 15th February, following the discovery of his body in the park last August.

Vitalijis was discovered by park rangers on 20th August last year and the police were called to the scene at around 2pm that day, finding him unresponsive.

While his inquest will not conclude until 13th July, a post-mortem examination suggested his cause of death was “alcohol and heroin co-toxicity”.

At the time, Waltham Forest Council chose to close the park that evening and canceled the Saturday market scheduled for the next day.

Only recently, yet another unexplained dead body was found in the borough, in woodland on Leyton Flats.

A post-mortem for this dead man, discovered on 15th February and not yet identified by police, is expected later this week.
