Age UK Waltham Forest has been given £59k over three years by the Mayor of London to deliver Waltham Forest’s Loved and Wanted Alliance, which will bring together people from a mosque, synagogue, church, foodbank, and two associations

Age UK Waltham Forest (AUKWF) is among 30 organisations across the capital which won funding from the Mayor of London’s Loved and Wanted Community Fund.
Age UK Waltham Forest will benefit from a total of £59,000, over three years, to deliver Waltham Forest’s Loved and Wanted Alliance – bringing people together from a mosque, a synagogue, a church, a foodbank, a Chinese association and an Albanian association.
Terry Day, AUKWF’s befriending manager, said: “The bidding process was very competitive and we are honoured to be one of the final 30 successful organisations out of over 400 initial applications.
“We are so excited to have this opportunity to help people make meaningful relationships across divides of race, faith, age and income. Our borough is very diverse, but sometimes it can be hard for people to make deeper friendships across those divides. In our alliance we will learn together, listen to each other and really live the message that everyone is loved and wanted here.”
Adil Baporia of Chingford Mosque said: “This is a tremendous opportunity to promote understanding and friendship between people from different faiths and backgrounds.”
The Waltham Forest Loved and Wanted Alliance consists of Age UK Waltham Forest, Chingford Mosque, East London & Essex Liberal Synagogue, PL84U Al-Suffa foodbank, St Barnabas Church, Waltham Forest Chinese Association, Waltham Forest Albanians.
The Waltham Forest Loved and Wanted Alliance will bring different communities together, building and strengthening community relationships, providing practical support, improving access to vital services, and creating opportunities for everyone to take part in city life.
